Processes in Business Units

T
Written by Trang Le

You can create, edit, and publish processes in every Business Unit. Each Business Unit has its own Process Browser, Diagrams, and Converter, and shows its own content. The processes and diagrams you see always belong to the Business Unit you are in.

NOTE: A process can move between Business Units, but a diagram always stays in the Business Unit where it was created.

Switch Business Unit

To switch Business Unit, follow the steps in Navigate content using business units.

NOTE: You can’t switch Business Unit while you are on a process detail page or on the Configuration tab.

Find processes

The Process Browser lists the processes of the Business Unit you are in. In the Process Browser, you can:

  • Use the Perspectives to change what you look at: Business Process, Application Component, Business Actor, Business Object, Business Role, or Data Object.

  • Search by name.

  • Expand a process to see its sub-processes.

  • Check each process’s published status, date, and author.

View a process’s published diagram and drafts

  1. Click a process in the Process Browser to open its details page.

The details page shows:

  • Top right panel: a preview of the published diagram, who published it and when, the diagram it was published from, and the Business Unit it belongs to. Click Open published process to view it.

  • Diagrams: every diagram for this process, with its owner, last edit date, and Business Unit. The published diagram has a green Published chip.

NOTE: A draft from another Business Unit shows an icon. Opening it takes you to that Business Unit to edit it.

Move a process to another Business Unit

  1. Choose Change business unit on the process.

  2. Select the target Business Unit and confirm.

The process moves to the new Business Unit, along with its published version and any diagrams you created. The original Business Unit retains the diagrams created before the move, along with the process’s parent or sub-processes.

NOTE: If the process already exists in the target Business Unit, the dialog notifies you, and you can’t move it.

Process configuration

Questionnaires on BPMN elements apply to all Business Units. You can only change them in the Master Business Unit.

Known limitations

  1. You can’t move a diagram to another Business Unit.

  2. All users can see every Business Unit. You can’t restrict access per Business Unit.

  3. Deleting a Business Unit deletes all its processes and diagrams.
